About Antiparos
A channel less than a nautical mile wide separates Antiparos from Paros, and the shallows in it hold the rest of the story. Saliagos, an islet in that strait, is the oldest known settlement in the Cyclades and once traded obsidian brought from Milos. Navy Blue Sea Transfers land at the village harbor, close to the Kastro that Giovanni Loredan built in 1440. Its 24 two-story houses form a continuous outer wall three meters thick, with a single Gothic gate on the south side. The cave above the village drops 85 meters below its entrance. Things to Do in Antiparos

Step down the 411 stairs into the Cave of Antiparos, past inscriptions left by King Otto and eighteenth-century travelers. A Christmas Mass was held inside in 1673.

Cross to Despotiko, the uninhabited islet where an Archaic sanctuary of Apollo has been under excavation since 2001. More than 70 pieces of sculpture have come out of it.

Anchor in the bay between the two islands, sheltered from every direction except the south. The water over Tsimintiri runs barely a meter deep and was dry land in antiquity.
